SPC 5K Run!!

Jordan and I participated in our very first walk/run on Saturday. It was wonderful. As most of you know, we are not runners. There was a team running from his school and he wanted to do it, so we signed up. He beat me by 4 minutes I think. I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of him. This took a lot of determination (trust me, I wanted to back out several times) from both of us. He was determined to do it, and was determined for me to do it as well. It was raining, but at least it was not cold. His school came in first place out of all the schools that participated. The school will receive a trophy with all the kids names on it. We are both sore, and exhausted today, but we finished the race well under 1 hour, so that in itself was a huge accomplishment for us.

The official times were just posted... Jordan beat me by almost 4 minutes! Way to go Jordan!!!

Prayer Request

UPDATE:

Marvin came through the surgery with flying colors! Praise the Lord!! He was moved yesterday to an inpatient rehab facility. He is walking with a walker but is improving more and more everyday! He is very motivated and is ready to come home. He will probably be in the rehab facility for a week or so depending on how well he does with his therapy. Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers and calls!

Tomorrow, my father in law Marvin, will be undergoing total hip replacement surgery. He is not in the best health to have the surgery because of previous heart and lung problems, but the surgery is necessary for him to continue the quality of life he has now. Please keep him, as well as the rest of our family in your thoughts and prayers over the next few days. Thanks!

There's no business, Like SNOW business!!!

It has started snowing again!!! We are going out for just a few minutes every hour or so. The snowflakes are so big and so beautiful. This is one of the prettiest snowfalls I can remember. I am not a winter person by all means, but this snow is absolutly gorgeous. The perfect setting for a winter photo that is for sure.

Oh, just in case you are wondering, Mackenzie does own a pair of gloves. She just decided to grab a couple of mismatched socks to cover her hands. She said she didn't want to mess up her gloves.









UPDATE:

I took these about 7:15 this morning. The snow has slacked up for now. More to come about 10:00 this morning. The kids have already attacked me with snowballs and made snow angels! What fun!

Ok, I couldn't wait!!




Yes, It is snowing here in SC!!! And since it has been snowing for a couple of hours now, schools have been closed!! There is a slight dusting on my back porch and when I say slight, I do mean slight. I will post a picture when day breaks! My kids are already so excited. Jordan woke up and had to ask if that was snow on the back porch or was it his imagination. Remember it is before 6am here. It is supposed to continue to snow throughout the day!!!

Baby it's cold outside...

You know it is cold outside when Mackenzie actually wants to wear a jacket, hat, gloves and a scarf. Other than her face, everything was covered. Both of my kids are, what they tell me, HOT natured. They do not like to wear jackets, and most of the time, I have to beg them to wear socks. Mackenzie wanted to wear a dress and leggings and shoes with no socks until I told her how cold it was outside. Then she quickly changed into jeans, long sleeved shirt, socks, & tennis shoes. Jordan already had on long sleeves, but refused to wear a jacket. Instead, he did wear a hoodie. He probably needed both the hoodie and the jacket, but hey, at least he has on the hoodie.

We haven't had weather like this in over 2 years. There are certain reasons I love living in the South, one of them is the weather. We like being able to leave our house in January with our rainbows on and people not looking at us like we are crazy. In fact, I had my flip flops on when I went to the store down the street on Saturday. Now, I am wrapped up in my Snuggie, fully clothed and craving a nice hot bowl of cheese grits. I am also craving 90 degree weather, but since I can't control the weather, I will settle for the grits.

I didn't take any pictures of my kids all bundled up this morning, but I have a feeling I can get a few this weekend.

Farewell Libby Lu's

My absolute favorite place to take Mackenzie at the beach is Libby Lu's at Broadway. If you don't know about this place, it is the BEST place for a little girl to spend the day transforming into a princess. Unfortunatly, Libby Lu's is closing all of their stores nationwide at the end of this month.

Mackenzie wanted to take a friend to Libby Lu's for her birthday. With everything going on in December it was hard to find a time that worked for us to go. So my friend Debbie and I took Mackenzie and her friend McKenzie to the beach on Saturday for a Girls Day Out!

We started the day at Libby Lu's for their makeovers. They both decided on the rock star diva du. They had their nails done, their makeup, and finally their hair. They wanted the pooch parlor package so they got stuffed animals with collars, shirts and bags for their pooch. They also got a goodie bag FULL of stuff as well. When we were done there, we were off lunch. For days, Mackenzie insisted on ARBY'S of all places to eat. Once her hair was done though, she wanted to eat somewhere at Broadway. So off to Margaritaville it was!!! After lunch we walked around Broadway for a while and even rode some of the old pavilion rides! The girls had a great time and were so exhausted when we left!!

I think I will probably miss Libby Lu's as much, if not more than Mackenzie will. I just love all the girly stuff they have in that store. It was so much fun watching the girls be pampered just like the princesses that they think they are. Both girls were very polite all day and that was the icing on the cake! They truly acted like two little perfect princesses!

Debbie, Thank you soooo much for going with us! I know you were in a real culture shock with all the pink stuff, but we had a great time anyway! I could have NEVER maintained my sanity without you! Next time we go, it will be on a Ladies Day Out! Thanks again!
